Bill Clinton Awakes From Nap and Saves Journalists?

I assume every one's eyebrows lifted a little in confusion when the news reported that the former president Bill Clinton would go to North Korea to help negotiate two captured journalists release from prison. And then he did...

Wait, I though Hillary Clinton was the Secretary of State?? Sending a women to do a man's work just wouldn't cut it? Why exactly was Bill Clinton sent to negotiate their release? What exactly was negotiated? 'If you don't release those girls, I will play the saxophone until you ears explode' or maybe 'If you don't release those girls, I'll seduce every female on your staff until you do.'

As far as I know the US didn't give up anything for these girls- Bill Clinton went over there, asked for them to be free, took a picture, hopped on a plane, and that was it? Does this smell fishy to anyone else?

Now I'm not saying that there was anything sneaky going on but what has President Clinton done since he's been out of office except take a lot of naps? Wasn't he impeached for lying under oath? This was said to be a 'humanitarian' effort... again, when was the last time President Clinton went on a humanitarian mission??

Did they figure Kim Jong-il hates African people and women so Mr. Clinton was their last option? Did Kim Jong-il particularly like Bill Clinton and ask for him by name? 'Ya, I'll let these girls out if you let your husband come down and have a beer with me, he's a real nice guy- I've missed him for the last 8 years!'

Very few people are questioning why Bill Clinton in particular and why was it so easy? The girls were captured at the end of March, they were put on TRIAL and sentenced in North Korean Courts. They were held in a North Korean prison for 5 months... President Obama publicly told Kim Jong-il to let them go- so did Hilary. What is this women actually doing besides pretending to be on the Ellen Degeneres show getting down with her bad self?

Really, Bill Clinton was all it took and they were free? Oh silly us, we should have sent him months ago before the trial and the sentencing and the jailing and all that fun stuff. From the looks of the event, North Korea was trying to make a statement- now they look like another intern getting on their knees for the former president.

I'd like some more answers- why him, why now, why so easy, and where the heck did former President Bush go? In his classic sneaky fashion with a snicker- he slid out the back door, locked himself in his room, and cried 'its not my fault- blame the black guy- leave me alone!'

That's a topic for another time. To conclude- why isn't former President Clinton our Secretary of State- he sure seems to be doing a lot more for the 'State' than his wife is- which is really sad because I was really rooting for her to be everything she said she was. Now she's just the crazy lady dancing with the people in Africa while her cheating lying husband is actually doing good. *sigh* we'll have a REAL women President one day...

  1. > Why him

Al Gore asked him to go.

    > Why now

The reporters were employed by Current TV, one of Al Gore's major investments.

    > Why so easy

Clinton was the only President who pandered to Kim Jong-il, giving away mountains of U.S. aid to simply get North Korea to sit down and talk. Plus, Jong-il is critically ill (no pun) and wants to establish his legacy as a leader who was acknowledged by the Super Powers of the world.

    > Bush & Hillary

Bush called Jong-il part of the "axis of evil" and Hillary called him a "chldish brute". I don't think he wanted either of them to visit, and both had refused to do so in any case.

    > Obama

The Obama administration and Hillary's State Department had to approve Bill's trip: it's the law. But, they did it in secret, so that they wouldn't appear to be "caving in" to Jong-il's demand for a "high official" to plead for the girl's release. Apparently, they don't understand that former Presidents have no power or standing in the government ... which is totally alien to Jong-il's view of government as a matter of paternal succession to absolute power.

  2. Well, There is so many things that are way off in this blog I don't know where to begin...

1.) President Clinton's Humanitarian efforts (Post presidency) Why Clinton?

One of President Clinton's well-known strengths is his Foreign Policies and International Diplomacy. Which he continues vigorously after he left office.

    - William J. Clinton Foundations which supports and provides for various humanitarian causes such as HIV/AIDS treatment and education with an emphasis on making treatments more affordable and availible in poor developing countries.

    - Bush(Sr.)-Clinton Katrina and Tsunami funds to help with relief efforts both nationally and internationally
    - Held a meeting with U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon on disease. famine and warfare in the Darfur reguion of Africa.
    - Help raise money and Awareness for USA Freedom Corps. An organization that promotes volunteerism at home and abroad.

2.) Why not Bush? Well the person with the comment above got it right. It was the only way to free the Journalists (using real diplomacy) and still allow N. Korea to save face by not releasing the journalist to a direct representitive of the current administraion. Plus, check out the language that was reported to the press about the meeting. Clinton expressed " sincere apology for the hostile acts of the two Journalists". Could you imagine if that came from Hillary? The U.S. Sec. of State! That would just be bad politics. How could the U.S. continue with gaining multilateralsupport for combating N. Korea's nuclear proliforation? There needs to be strong oppositional language comming from the State department. Hence, Hillary's "Childish Brute" Comment. From a political standpoint they played their cards just right.

3.) What is Sec. of State Clinton doing? Her Job. She is currently on a seven nation trip to Africa. Highlighting this administrations commitment to make Africa a priority in U.S. foreign policy.

Michelle, Michelle, Michelle...you need to do some research before you start blabbing off about these issues or else you will sound like a left-wing version of Anne Coulter.
